Johnson Hardwood Floor Installation

The Texas series by Johnson is a hand scraped rustic hardwood reminiscent of the floors in a ranch home on the plains of Texas. This hardwood floor is an Oak stained in a natural hue color that gives it the character of a floor that speaks of the American old west.

This floor features an 11 step Aluminum Oxide finish and carries a 35 year limited residential warranty. This finish combined with the rustic hand scrape texture makes it a good floor for active homes, the scuffs or scratches that come inherently with normal wear and tear on wood floors only add to the character of each board.

Our customer built this new home over the course of several years, during this time he had a long time to research and select the perfect floor. The style and design of the home was a great fit for Johnson Hardwood Texas Series.

Flooring in a New Home

Choosing flooring in a newly built home can be compared to a blank canvas for a homeowner to decide what colors or textures to use in manifesting their ideal look and feel. We had the opportunity to work with our customer to make their vision a reality.

The final choice for the main living areas was Mohawk laminate style Chateau Vista color Canyon Echo Oak. Laminate flooring is an excellent choice for active homes with kids, cats, and dogs. Laminate flooring is also easy to maintain, a must for any active home.

In the areas vulnerable to water a more resilient product was needed, Armstrong Alterna Athenian Travertine color Honey Onyx  was used for the kitchen/laundry areas and Armstrong Alterna Durango color Cream for the bathrooms. Alterna is an engineered stone tile which means it is a vinyl-limestone composite, this makes it more comfortable than cold hard tile.

C. F. Lott Historic Home

We had the opportunity to work on installing new carpet at the Historical Lott Home in Sank Park. The Lott Home is a Victorian Gothic Revival-style structure that was built in 1856 by “Judge” Charles Fayette Lott.

There was challenges in selecting carpet for this 161 year old house. The Friends of the Park, an organization whose purpose is to bring the community together to preserve safe and active parks for families and children, took it upon themselves to find a solution that would fit the unique look of the house as well as fit the budget.
