C. F. Lott Historic Home

We had the opportunity to work on installing new carpet at the Historical Lott Home in Sank Park. The Lott Home is a Victorian Gothic Revival-style structure that was built in 1856 by “Judge” Charles Fayette Lott.

There was challenges in selecting carpet for this 161 year old house. The Friends of the Park, an organization whose purpose is to bring the community together to preserve safe and active parks for families and children, took it upon themselves to find a solution that would fit the unique look of the house as well as fit the budget.

The challenge

Many of the original furnishings are on display including paintings, rugs textiles, clothes, silver, and glassware from 1849-1910. The Friends of the Park took all of those things into consideration, along with the color of the walls and adjacent flooring to make a decision.

The solution

A beautiful floral print from Milliken was selected along with a combination of area rugs and runners. The use of these rugs and runners allowed for the wonderful hardwood floors, that were previously hidden by the old worn out green carpet, to be exposed for everyone to see. The results speak for themselves!
